Why Planet :

Since energy is a vital factor in social and economical development programs, which complied with industrial and commercial infrastructure incremental, aiming to improve living styles, the energy demand becomes greater and greater, with an extreme growth rate. That creates worldwide environmental and economic challenges due to the limited fossil energy resources, which required focusing on:

- Rational Use of Energy
- Increase RE contribution
- Enhance R&D in the fields of RE&EE
- RE&EE technology transfer to MENA region

The high energy share in GDP in oil producer and exporter countries makes energy one of the most important economic engines, which urges these countries to find alternatives to reduce this share.

Even though, Syria is one of those countries, the high-energy demand growth rate portend the future energy crises, this demonstrates the insistent necessity of adapting RE&EE policies.

5.4% is the Syrian annual energy demand growth rate within 1990-2007, and in accordance with this, it is predicted that the domestic energy demand in 2030 will be about 65 million toe.

As most of MENA countries, the residential sector in Syria is the biggest energy consumer, this mean that the non-productive sectors occupy the highest share of the total domestic produced energy; Planet strategy is to develop RE&EE applications in these sectors.

The recent analytical energy studies shows that it’s possible to save more than 30% of the total domestic energy demand in MENA countries, this could be achieved by adapting energy efficiency measures, this ratio could be increased by investing the great potential of solar and wind energy available. This enhances PLANET vision to take the advantages of these opportunities, by being the first private actor in the energy loop.

The range of solar radiation in MENA region is 1900-2800 kWh/m2/year, and the measured average wind speed and operating hours, illustrate significant benefits from investing these resources.

According to what mentioned above,
PLANET, as the first ESCO in Syria, is planning to promote RE&EE applications in cooperation with all interested in future making and earth preservation.
